Artist Statement

Dance is the language that molds me. It is my escape, my voice, and my future. The daily dedication, struggle, structure, and never ending quest for improvement in dance have made me the proud, independent woman that I am today.

As a performer, I aspire to have audiences look past the traditional features in a dancer and recognize that there is beauty in all artists. I seek involvement in many different mediums of dance so that I can gain new life experiences and better understand the world from different perspectives.

As a choreographer, I strive to create thought provoking works that speak to all audiences of people - and works that mend the arts together with underrepresented political ideas - global warming, women’s rights. As a choreographer, I want to tell stories about pertinent issues through dance and have audiences raise awareness for these important causes.

As a teacher, I value the knowledge that my dancers receive during every class. The inner strive and determination in their eyes motivates me to believe that I am making a difference through our shared connection in dance. It makes me happy to meet students that want to refine their technique and skills through my guidance and assistance. The connections made in class reaffirm my dedication to a life in the arts.

The arts do so much for our world, yet they receive so little in return. As an advocate, I am passionate about raising awareness and support for the arts. After attending law school I hope to work on reforming subjects that are undervalued in our world - beginning with an investment in the arts.
